The problem here is, you have to move that marble up the board eventually. No stragglers: Some players want to leave a marble behind so their opponent can’t fill out the entire triangle. The more your marbles move off to the side, the longer it will take them to reach their final destination. Whenever possible, build your chains to go straight through the center of the board. Stay centered: The shortest path between two points is a straight line. Then look for the longest ladder or chain out there and use it to move your trailing marbles across the board as quickly as possible. HELPFUL CHINESE CHECKERS STRATEGIES & TIPSįind the longest hopping path: Get as many of your marbles out of the blue triangle as possible and start moving them up the board. You cannot end a move in a triangle base that is not yours or your opponent’s green triangle base, but you can jump into and out of those bases during a turn. Each layout imposes a different best-game strategy. Games between experts are rarely decided by more than a couple of moves.ĭiffering numbers of players result in different game layouts. Of equal importance are the players' strategies for emptying and filling their starting and home corners. ![]() (Multiple-jump moves are obviously faster to relocate pieces than step-by-step moves.) Since either player can make use of any hopping 'ladder' or 'chain' created, more advanced strategy involves hindering an opposing player, in addition to helping oneself find jumps across the board. Others keep playing to establish 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and last place finishers.
